Ever since the Indian T20 League came into dominance, various others followed suit. Countries like Australia, Pakistan, England and even New Zealand introduced their very own cricket leagues featuring the world's best players. Below are the types of various cricket leagues that are played across the world.

Indian T20 League

One of the world's major sporting events, the Indian T20 League has taken the cricketing world by storm. One can also say that the Indian T20 league has revolutionised T20 franchise cricket across the globe.

With its initiation, many other cricketing boards too have taken notice and introduced their own version/take of the league. Fans also get a taste of the T20 Fantasy league with a chance to win a lot of real cash and exciting rewards.​

Big Bash League

The Australian T20 League is another franchise cricket tournament right from Down Under. Started back in 2011, Cricket Australia decided to introduce its very own franchise cricket tourney that homes to various international T20 stars such as David Warner, Glenn Maxwell and Steve Smith.

Besides that, international stars like Andre Russell, Rashid Khan, Liam Livingstone etc. too have made their name here. The tournament usually takes place in the month of December, January, and February.

Abu Dhabi T10 League

The Abu Dhabi T10 League is a franchise league that sees teams compete with each other in a 10-over format. The league was initially introduced by the Emirates Cricket Board and sees a lot of top international T20 stars show their skills and artistry on the field.

The likes of Eoin Morgan, DJ Bravo, Mohammad Nabi and many more, have caught the eye of cricketing fraternity. All the matches are played at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.​

T20 Blast Cricket League:

Basically the home of T20 cricket, England & Wales Cricket Board too got their acts together and launched their very own cricket tournament that goes by the name T20 Blast or the Vitality Bash.

The major difference to the other tournaments here is that the English county clubs compete with each other in the 20-over format tourney as compared to the rest of the leagues. As per the record books, the T20 Blast is the first ever professional T20 League in the world.​

Caribbean T20 League:

The Caribbean T20 League or the CPL is also a T20 format franchise league that has its roots originated in the West Indies. After seeing the success in India, Australia and England, the West Indies too have entered the fray with their very own franchise cricket league.

Home to one of the best T20 international stars such as Kieron Pollard, DJ Bravo, Chris Gayle and others, the CPL has to become an instant hit amongst the cricket fans.​

Pakistan T20 League:

The Pakistan Super League or formerly called as PSL is a franchise based T20 league tournament that features some of the best talents from Pakistan as well as across the globe. The league that begun in 2015, is presided over by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Also, with security reasons clouding over the home nation, the tourney was also played at Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The PSL has produced some of the top talents in Pakistan and world cricket with the likes of Asif Ali, Imad Wasim to name a few.

European Cricket League:

The European Cricket League is another short over format tournament that is played in European countries in a 10-over format. The major objective of this tournament was to popularize the sport of cricket amongst the European countries.

That is why you will see countries such as Croatia, Belgium, Spain, Italy, and others take part to win top honour. The ECN was founded in 2018.​

T20 World Cup

The T20 World Cup is an ICC event that sees world’s top teams compete to win the major trophy in a 20-over format. The inaugural tournament saw India beat Pakistan to lift the trophy back in 2007 and ever since, the tournament has been a major hit amongst the cricketing fans. The West Indies are one of the successful teams in this tournament where they won it 2 times (2012, 2016).​

T20 Challenge:

The T20 Challenge is a domestic T20 cricket tournament from South Africa that was first introduced way back in 2003-04.

After much changes behind the scenes, the South African Cricket Board finally introduced their very own major T20 tournament that sees some of their country’s top stars fight it out and rubbing shoulders with the international ones as well. ​

Momentum One Day Cup:

The Momentum One-Day Cup is a major 50-over format tournament from South Africa. The tournament’s matches are mostly counted under List A and sees Proteas’ top stars battle it out for top prize.

Super Smash League:

The Super Smash League is a T20 Franchise tournament based out in New Zealand. Since the 2014-15 season, the NZ Cricket board decided to call it the ‘Super Smash League’. There are 6 teams that contest for major honours and to be called as New Zealand’s T20 Champion.​

Women’s Big Bash League:

The WBBL or the Women’s Big Bash League is the T20 League tournament that sees Women’s cricket top stars battle it out Down Under. Officially called the Australian Women’s T20 Cup, the WBBL came into existence from 2014-15 season.

Just like their male counterparts, the Women’s Big Bash league has the same set of rules and guidelines. The team names are also identical with eight city-based teams fighting out for the top prize.
